This week commences the season of Advent and all that it entails. Just thinking through a full calendar for the month of December has the ability to bring on fatigue even before we address all that we have to do, buy, go, and the many expectations to meet, which others have of us.  
There are several messages that emanate from the season's scripture readings. The theme for this Sunday will be that of "Preparing The Way" and the corresponding readings are Isaiah 40: 3 - 5 and Mark 1: 1 - 8.  
Advent gives rise to much preparation but perhaps the most important is that of readying ourselves to welcome the person of Jesus into our lives. Let us all take the opportunity in our times for worship to savour the true meaning of an event that is profound as well as magical.
