This Sunday we’ll examine the sixth of Jordan Peterson’s twelve Rules for Life—and then leave off that series until next year. The rule Peterson suggests is this:  “Set Your House in Perfect Order before You Criticize the World.” The sentiment, on the face of it, seems reasonable. But when I tried to think through what Peterson was saying, I realized that every “perfect,” hero in the Bible was also deeply flawed. So, while the Apostle Paul suggests that we ought to be perfect like God is perfect, he doesn’t mean that as long as we’re not perfect, we shouldn’t try to make the world a better place, too. The text will be Matthew 26:69-75, the story of Peter’s denial of Jesus.
