Our summer series welcomes Reverend John Lougheed as our speaker this Sunday.
As a retired Hospital Chaplain, now working part-time as a Presider – helping families plan and lead funeral Services – (Rev.) John Lougheed considers Lawrence Park Community Church (LPCC) to be among his Church homes. In a sermon entitled “Bridges” he will explore two Scripture texts, and some of their implications for ‘making meaning’. Joshua 4:1-9 tells the story of an ancient people who erected a stone cairn to reflect their gratitude to God, which invites us to ponder “what do those stones mean to us?”. In the Gospel according to St. John 9:1-12, the story of the healing pool of Siloam is told, inviting us to ponder - with ‘lots of water under the bridge and few bridges under water’ (!) - “how God’s works might be revealed through our lives.” As ever, there will be lots of great music too in this brief, informal, intergenerational Summer Service in the spacious ‘prayer conditioned’ Sanctuary at LPCC.
We are happy to welcome back Scott Weidler as our organist and Michèle Bogdanowicz as our soloist.
