Summer Worship for 2010
This year, we're going to try a new approach to worship and community life here at LPCC.

Firstly, we will not be holding Sunday services during the months of July and August.

Instead, here's what we will be doing:
On two Wednesday nights, July 14 and August 11, we'll be having congregational "celebrations". These are opportunities for us all -- regardless of age -- the keep in touch, share stories, have some good food and drink, and worship together.

The events will run from 6:30 to 7:45. Each will begin out in the courtyard with wine, cheese, desserts and drinks for everyone -- adults and kids. Then we'll move into the sanctuary for a good, solid-but-summery worship service. Mark, Ken and Alison will all be present for both events, as well as soloists and members of the choir.

And we hope you will, too. We know that many, for example, who spend the summer at the cottage come in to town now and then for doctors or whatever -- that's why we want you to know the dates now. Hopefully, by focussing our efforts and commitments on two mid-week times during the summer, and letting you know this far ahead, we'll have a good congregational representation -- and really be able to keep in touch with each other throughout the summer.

Other aspects of congregational life will be the same as always: the building will be open throughout the week, and one of the ministers will be available throughout the summer for pastoral and other congregational needs.
One more note: in years past, we've moved to summer worship in mid-June, and started back the week after Labour Day. This year, as we experiment with this different format, we will continue to worship at 10:30, as usual, right through to the end of June, and we will start back on Labour Day Sunday.

United -- Unorthodox -- Unlimited

Lawrence Park Community Church is committed to being a radically inclusive and welcoming congregation. We preach and live a Good News that is contemporary and challenging. Whatever age you may be, whatever stage of exploring faith you may be at, you will find support, encouragement and spiritual stimulation in our congregation.

Theologically, our approach to the Christian faith is progressive and contemporary. We worship a God who is more 'within and among' than 'beyond'. We proclaim Jesus as "The Way" to life -- but we do not accept the notion of Jesus as "the only way". We understand ourselves to be a part of Canada's faith mosaic -- even as we affirm the beauty and dignity of other parts of that mosaic as well.

We have recently completed a major renovation project on our building. We invite you to come and have a look around. Our new building is environmentally friendly, fully accessible, and welcoming for people of all ages and stages of life.

It’s an exciting time in our congregational life. We hope you will share that time with us.
