The discovery of a mass grave in Kamloops, B.C. has reminded Canadians once again that we have a tragic history with Indigenous people. One of the key problems lies in the provisions of the Indian Act, the legislation that governs what Indigenous people can and cannot do in Canada.
Join the Affirm committee on June 22nd for a discussion of the short book, 21 Things You May not Know about the Indian Act by Bob Joseph. It is a short, incisive book about the legal basis for our relationship with and exploitation of Canada's First Nations. If you want to understand how Kamloops was possible, this is a good place to start. Discussion moderated by Rev. Stephen Milton.
