In this brief meditation for our Service of Lessons and Carols, we consider The affect that angels have when they come bearing good news. Everytime they come, they at first instill fear and trembling. The fear turns to joy upon hearing their good news, but what happens with Jesus? Jesus, though he embodies the good news, and as the stories say, was born to free us, never causes fear. Even though now his existence seems monumental, the bible never describes anyone as having feared him, even for a moment. He comes gently, as a baby lying in a manger, and later as a guiding shepherd. But when he comes gently, just see what happens next.
