Hebrews 12:1-3, 12-13

The Swimmer's Moment. The moment where you can either dive head first into the frightening unknown, and reach the new and exciting possibilities, or ignore it and live a grayed out life. This poem by Canadian writer Margaret Avison is an interesting lens in which to examine Jesus' decision to turn his face to Jerusalem. On this first Sunday of Lent we examine our own swimmer's moments, and try to look past the frightening unknown and the dangers it holds, to the joy and possibility beyond it.
