John relates the story of Jonah being ordered to Ninevah to tell them to repent their ways lest they be destroyed for their sins in 40 days. And they did.
Why are we, as a people, in general, disinclined to act decisively when faced with extreme consequences, such as the results of climate change?
Here John relates that we need to be uncomfortable with our sense of consequential, potential doom in order to look trouble in the eye and take responsibility as the Christ-like thing to do.
