Hi, welcome back to the Rooster Crows podcast for the first week of February, 2021. My name is Judi Pressman, and today we’re talking about paradoxes. Life is full of paradoxes – the more learn, the less you feel you know. You have to spend money to make money. The more you give, the more you get. [ feel free to add one or two you know of if you have other examples] . Paradoxes are all around us, but they are often hard to think about. Spiritual traditions abound in paradoxes, from Zen Buddhism’s koans to Jesus’s statement that we should love our enemies. But entering into the mystery of paradoxes is also a path to spiritual liberation. This week, Rev. Stephen Milton discusses the nature of paradox with lawyer and science geek Joyce Taylor. Along the way, we’ll hear a few folk tales about paradoxes. We’ll also hear music from the duo William and Polly, who will perform Bob Dylan’s Blowin’ in the Wind.
