Pastoral Care and visitation is essential to the overall ministry here at Lawrence Park Community Church. This is Eric’s primary responsibility supported by a Pastoral Care Committee. He also participates in occasional worship leadership and preaching.
Ordained in 1995, Eric has served the church in congregational ministry in Nova Scotia and Ontario. He is a graduate of York University (BA); The Atlantic School of Theology, Halifax (M.Div.); and Bangor Theological Seminary, Maine (D.Min.). Prior to studying for ministry Eric spent 25 years in the corporate sector followed by three years as Administrator of Timothy Eaton Memorial Church.
He is an instrumentalist and during his studies in Halifax served as Music Director at Rockingham United Church. A highlight of his ministry has been chaplaincy assignments on both the ocean liners Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth.
Eric is married to Marilyn with whom he served in team ministry between 2001 and 2006 at St. Andrew’s United Church, Hamilton. They have two children, David and Janet, and three granddaughters Hannah, Justice, and Abby. Reach him by email at eric@lawrenceparkchurch.ca or on his cell at (647) 988-6742.
Visitation is not confined to illness and crisis but is a way of getting to know the congregation, especially new members. Hence don’t be surprised if you receive a request from me for a visit. Members of the congregation can be of great assistance by making pastoral care needs known directly to me or to the Church Office so that an appropriate response can be made in a timely manner.
